How to Download Instagram Reels

Found a reel you want to keep — a recipe, a workout, a clip you'd like to watch offline? Peekgram lets you download reels from any public Instagram account in their original quality, with no watermark and no login. All you need is a browser and the account's username.

  1. 1Open peekgram.app in any browser on your phone or computer. The service is completely free and requires no signup or Instagram login.
  2. 2Type the public @username into the search box and start the search. Peekgram loads the account's public profile in seconds.
  3. 3Open the Posts tab and scroll until you find the reel you're after. Reels are regular posts on Instagram, so they appear right there among the photos and carousels.
  4. 4Click the reel to open a preview. You can watch it first to make sure it's the exact video you want.
  5. 5Hit the download button to save the video to your device. The file keeps its original quality — no watermark, no compression.

Original quality, no watermark

When you download a reel with Peekgram, you get the source video file exactly as it was uploaded to Instagram. There is no re-encoding, no resolution drop and no watermark stamped over the footage. What the creator published is what lands on your device.

Compare that with screen-recording, the workaround most people fall back on. A screen recording re-compresses the video, often drops frames, and captures the Instagram interface — buttons, captions and progress bars — along with the clip. Cropping those out afterwards costs you even more quality.

With a direct download you also get a clean MP4 file you can archive, edit, or watch offline whenever you want. No fiddling with recording timing, no trimming the start and end.

Anonymous and no login

Peekgram never asks you to sign in, and it doesn't connect to your Instagram account in any way. That means no view, like, or interaction is ever tied to you — the account owner sees nothing.

Because everything runs in the browser, it works on any device: iPhone, Android, tablet, or desktop. There is no app to install and no extension to add — just open the site and search.

One honest limitation: Peekgram only works with public accounts. Private profiles share their content only with approved followers, and Peekgram respects that boundary.

Legal & fair use

Downloading a reel for personal, offline use — saving a tutorial, keeping an inspiration folder — is generally fine. The video itself, however, still belongs to its creator, who holds the copyright.

If you want to repost a reel or use it in your own content, ask the creator for permission first and always credit the author. A quick DM is usually all it takes, and it keeps you on the right side of both etiquette and copyright law.

Note that Peekgram is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram. Besides reels, you can also download photos and posts in full resolution and save stories anonymously — we cover both in separate guides.

Frequently asked questions

Does the creator know I downloaded their reel?

No. Peekgram works without any login, so nothing connects the download to you — the creator sees no view, notification, or trace.

Is the quality reduced or is a watermark added?

Neither. Peekgram serves the original video file straight from Instagram, so you get the full resolution with no watermark and no re-compression.

Can I download reels from private accounts?

No. Peekgram only works with public accounts; content that a creator has restricted to approved followers stays private.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Peekgram runs entirely in the browser and works on iPhone, Android, and desktop alike — nothing to install or update.

Ready to save that reel? Open Peekgram, search the username, and have the video on your device in under a minute — free, anonymous, and in original quality.
