How to Download Instagram Photos & Posts

Want to save a photo or a full post from a public Instagram account? Peekgram lets you download images in their original, full resolution — including every photo in a carousel — straight from your browser. No account, no app, no cost.

  1. 1Open peekgram.app in any browser — it's completely free and there's no signup or login of any kind.
  2. 2Type the public @username into the search box and select the account you're looking for.
  3. 3Open the Posts tab to see the account's feed, then click the post you want to save.
  4. 4If the post is a carousel, browse through each image in the preview using the arrows.
  5. 5Use the download button to save the photo to your device in full resolution.

Full resolution, exactly as uploaded

The Instagram app famously offers no way to save someone's photo to your device. The usual workaround — taking a screenshot — gives you a compressed copy at your screen's resolution, complete with interface elements and cropped edges. What you save is never the picture the photographer actually posted.

Peekgram takes a different route: it fetches the original image file that was uploaded to Instagram and hands it to you untouched. That means the full pixel dimensions, the real colors, and none of the quality loss you get from screenshots or re-shared copies.

This makes a real difference for anything beyond a quick glance — keeping a high-quality copy of your own posts, archiving a moodboard reference, or saving a photo you want to view later on a bigger screen.

Carousels and multi-photo posts

Many Instagram posts aren't a single image but a carousel of up to twenty photos and videos. Peekgram supports these fully: open the post and you can step through every slide right in the preview, exactly as you would in the app.

Each slide has its own download button, so you can save the whole set one image at a time — or just pick the two or three you actually want. Nothing forces you to grab the entire post.

Mixed carousels work too. If a post combines photos and video clips, the photos download as full-resolution images and the clips as video files, each in its original quality.

Anonymous browsing & fair use

Because Peekgram never asks you to log in, there is no Instagram account of yours involved at any point — nothing you view or download can be traced back to a profile. The account owner sees no notification, no visit, no trace. The same applies when you use Peekgram to watch stories anonymously or to download reels, which we cover in two separate guides.

One honest limitation: Peekgram only works with public accounts. Private profiles share their content with approved followers only, and that boundary stays intact — no tool should promise otherwise.

Finally, remember that every photo belongs to the person who created it. Downloading for personal use is fine, but if you want to republish an image, ask the author for permission first and always give credit. Peekgram is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.

Frequently asked questions

Will the account owner know I saved their photo?

No. Instagram doesn't notify anyone about downloads or screenshots of posts, and since Peekgram works without any login, there's no account activity to trace back to you.

What resolution do I get?

The original resolution the photo was uploaded in. Peekgram serves the actual image file, not a compressed or resized copy.

Can I download photos from private accounts?

No. Peekgram only works with public accounts — private profiles are only visible to their approved followers, and that stays that way.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Peekgram runs in any browser on iPhone, Android, or desktop — there's no app to install.

Ready to save your first photo? Open Peekgram, search a public username, and download any post in full resolution — free, in seconds.
